Real Wedding Saturday: Lexy & Jared

Heather Balliet of Amorology shared her cousin's wedding with me, and I thought it would be so much fun to share with you! Planned by the bride's mother, the sweet, vintage prom-inspired reception is full of fun and thoughtful details.

Lexy's dress was by Tadashi. A dressmaker in Utah added sleeves, removed sequins and made the veil. Lexy's mother designed and made the silk belt and rosette, and added vintage buttons from Lexy's great-grandmother's collection down the back of the dress (and on her aqua shoes).

Twigg Botanicals designed and made all of the bouquets.

The bridesmaids each wore a different vintage pastel prom dresses.

The reception took place at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach, California.

The many balloons were provided by Top Hat Balloon Werks.

Tables were numbered with significant years: the years Lexy and Jared were born, the years parents and grandparents were married, and the year Lexy and Jared will celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Guests took home buckets of goodies: homemade cookies, personalized pencils, miniature Yahtzee games, and a deck of cards.

The cake was made by Sweet Art Bakery in Pomona, California, 909-392-3890.

You know how much I love wedding parades! All of the wedding guests did a conga line to the bay where Lexy and Jared made their getaway in a gondola.

Congratulations Lexy and Jared - thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Flint Photography for sharing these photos, and to Lexy's mother, Jill, for sharing all of these great details.

Wow, this wedding is so awesome! The colors, her dress, the fact that her mother came up with the idea and put together EVERYTHING - I am super jealous.

Can anyone identify what flowers are used in the bouquets besides the roses? I love them!

Kathryn said...

Hi Jen - so glad you like the bouquets - aren't they beautiful! Here are some of the flowers in them:
roses, cymbidium orchids, scabiosa pods, dusty miller (or maybe it's lamb's ear, hard to tell), succulent, purple tulips, and possibly chocolate cosmos. I hope that helps!

Kathryn, you did a great job on listing most of the flowers! I also used hydrangea and bouvardia, the roses were femma and juliette roses, and yes, it was dusty miller, although lambs ear is a great choice too. Thanks for sharing this darling wedding!

Oh my goodness, I know the bride! We were on a study abroad together! I feel famous now (don't burst my bubble). She looks gorgeous, and the whole wedding looks lovely. Congrats, Lexy!

I love the dress! I can't find any designs by Tadashi that are for weddings. Am I not looking in the right place?

Lexy and Jared said...

Vivane,
You're right. Tadashi does not have a special wedding collection. This was one of his evening gowns that just happened to be white. Sorry to confuse!
And here's to everyone: Thanks for all of your lovely comments and compliments! It was honestly the best day of my life, and my mom (with her fabulous sidekick and best friend Lisa) truly made it remarkable.
Many thanks to Kathryn for featuring our wedding. :)

Love the gondola getaway!

Lulu,
We got the dresses at various vintage stores: Shareen Vintage in Los Angeles; some vintage stores in Redford, Michigan that escape me; and a vintage store in Howell, Michigan. My mother shortened all the dresses and redesigned a couple. The bodice of the blue dress that the brunette wears was completely reconstructed. We also added tulle shawls so all of the dresses had a uniform look. Sorry I couldn't be of more help with the exact names!

While I was looking over this fabulous post, my husband realized he knows Jared from way back and is long time buddies with the brother of Jared. Small world. The whole concept of the reception is so awesome! Thank you for sharing the pictures.
