Submission Requirements FAQ
Please note that I am no longer accepting engagement shoot submissions.
I've had lots of emails with inquiries about my submission requirements, so if you'd like to submit a real wedding or editorial shoot for a Snippet & Ink feature, here's some info for you:
Q. What kinds of weddings do you feature on Snippet & Ink?
A. I try to feature a variety of weddings (backyard, destination, urban, rustic - I love them all!). I especially love to feature weddings that are unique/unusual, thoughtful, creative, with lots of great details, not overly extravagant or over-the-top (with a few exceptions), and if they were done on a budget, that's always a bonus.
Q. What kinds of editorial shoots do you feature on Snippet & Ink?
A. As with real weddings, I like to feature a variety of editorial shoots that showcase vendors' talents and styles, inspiring ideas, and DIY-projects are fun, too. Of course beautiful locations and creative details are always fun.
Q. Do you feature weddings that have already been published somewhere else?
A. Because so many Snippet & Ink readers also read other wedding blogs, I prefer to feature weddings and shoots that have not already been published elsewhere. If you are a photographer with a large blog following, and you think that someone might snag one of your features, please consider waiting to post on your own blog until the feature has a chance to go up on Snippet & Ink. If you are a bride or groom, please consider only submitting your wedding to one blog at a time.
Q. Do submissions have to come from the photographer?
A. No! Anyone - bride, groom, photographer, planner - can submit a wedding or engagement shoot.
Q. How should I submit a wedding or editorial shoot?
A. Please shoot me an email with the subject line "Submission: Wedding, Couple's first names" or "Submission: Editorial, brief description." Attach 15 small format images that help to convey the mood and details from the wedding or shoot. Please do not embed images in your email.
Q. What information do you need for a wedding feature?
A. It's important to me that Snippet & Ink readers really get a sense of the story that goes along with a wedding. The sooner I have all of the images and details, the sooner I can feature the wedding! If I accept a submission, I will ask for the following information from the couple:
- Why did you choose this for your wedding? What inspired you?
- Venue, date, number of guests.
- Dress designer, shoes, jewelry, groom's suit, bridesmaid dresses, etc.
- Stationer, floral designer, rentals, music, etc.
- Menu, drinks, dessert, cake flavor, caterer, baker.
- DIY elements.
- Budget tips.
- Favorite moment/s, surprises, traditions.
- Advice you'd give to other brides
- Anything else that helps tell the story of the day!
Q. What is your email address?
A. kathryn{at}snippetandink{dot}com
Q. When will you get back to me?
A. Unfortunately, I receive so many submissions every day that I am unable to respond personally to each one. If you have not heard back from me within 7 days, please go ahead and submit the wedding elsewhere.
And if you have any other questions, of course you can shoot me an email anytime. I look forward to seeing whatever you send over, and though I receive far too many submissions to feature all of them, it is always so much fun to learn about new photographers and vendors, and to see how creative Snippet & Ink readers are!
