Real Wedding Saturday: Shauna & Jeff
There are so many reasons that I love this August wedding, including that it took place about ten minutes from where I grew up. But even if you don't have that particular bias, I know you'll love it too - it's simple and lovely and thoughtfully done. The bride is a graphic designer at the fabulous Hello!Lucky, and the groom is a wine buyer for a local independent grocery chain. If that doesn't sound like a combination for a great wedding, then I don't know what does. Marla Aufmuth took these beautiful photos, and I think she captured the day perfectly! Christa Robinson of Eventus coordinated the wedding.

The wedding, with 145 guests, was held at the Headlands Center for the Arts, located in the Marin Headlands fifteen minutes north of San Francisco. The Center is a collection of restored historic military buildings, now used for artists' residencies and public programs.

Shauna wore the wedding dress her grandmother originally wore in 1953.

Jeff's suit is by Hugo Boss. The floral design was done by Mary Lois Hare at Loop Flowers, and included local, seasonal flowers.

Vintage handkerchiefs, purchased from a local flea market, were given out as guests entered the Westwing for the ceremony.

The ceremony space was decorated with tissue paper pom-poms made by the bride.

The bride and groom were married under a chuppah made by the bride's mother.

The ring pillow was made from a vintage handkerchief.

The ceremony was conducted by a childhood friend of the groom. The bride and groom were each escorted into the ceremony by their parents, as part of the Jewish tradition. The groom walked down the aisle to Johnny Cash's Walk the Line and the bride entered to God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. The recessional song was Hesitating Beauty by Wilco.

Shauna's bouquet included a cattleya orchid and was tied with a champagne ribbon.

I love this simple guest book - a little notebook and brown Le Pens.

The escort cards were labeled with a variety of funky handwriting styles.

I absolutely love this detail in the restroom! It's hilarious and beautiful - very Marcel Duchamp.

Dinner was held in a rustic dining hall with an open kitchen, so guests could watch the chefs at work.

Centerpieces were displayed in vintage blue glass mason jars found at a local flea market. Also, notice the mismatched chairs.

All stationery, inspired by vintage fabric, was designed by Shauna and printed at Hello!Lucky. You can even purchase the invitation suite for yourself!

The groom created a signature cocktail, Hitched Hooch, inspired by his Texas upbringing. The coasters with a cowboy boot stitch motif had the recipes printed on them: 6 mint leaves, 3 ounces peach nectar, 2 ounces ginger ale, 1 ounce bourbon, dash of bitters, half a lime.

All wines were paired and chosen by the groom.

All food was created and prepared by Chef Katie Powers from Katie Powers Catering, including passed appetizers, a salad course, family style dinner course and cheese course. Everything was made from local, seasonal ingredients.

Peach-blackberry cobblers were served in lieu of wedding cake.

Guests were encouraged to take home the centerpieces from dinner.
Congratulations Shauna and Jeff! Thank you so much for sharing this special day with Snippet & Ink, and thank you to Marla Aufmuth for sharing these beautiful photos!
