Lyndsey Hamilton Events Blog!

Lyndsey Hamilton Events is one of the best wedding planning companies out there, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that they were starting a blog! If you haven't already discovered it and checked it out, definitely head over for some lovely inspiration (including a sneak peek at their spread in the fall issue of The Knot). I can't wait to see what they have in store!

Board #252: Love's a Beach

Hi friends! Sorry for the late post today - I am finally completely moved! Today's wedding board was inspired by the incredible tent in the top corner, both for color and for the feel of it. I don't know that a destination wedding would be for me, but either way it's nice to have a little getaway in the middle of the week.

Mood: warm, exotic
Palette: orange, turquoise, lime green, sand

Board #250: Aqua & Poppy

I think this is one of those color palettes that can really capture the personalities of the couple getting married, and it would work well in a number of venues: a stark urban loft, on the beach, in a summer garden. Aqua and poppy red might be too bold for some, but that's the fun of colors - there really is something for every style and taste!

Mood: bold, playful
Palette: aqua, poppy red, white

Board #249: Première danseuse

Here is the second inspiration board that I made a few months ago for Minted.com. I just adore the illustration that Rene Gruau did for Christian Dior, and really loved making this wedding board based around it.

Mood: feminine, modern
Palette: shades of gray, blush pink, orange, peach

Real Wedding Saturday: Brittany & Michael

This week's real wedding was sent to me by the talented Cooper Carras, and not only was I excited because it's beautiful and looks like a ton of fun, but I was also flattered because the bride, Brittany, is a daily reader of Snippet & Ink and she specifically asked Cooper to share these with us! How fun is that! And as if the venue wasn't special enough, the weather could not possibly have provided a more beautiful day.

The afternoon wedding took place at the Meadwood Resort in Napa.

Rings by Diamond Connection.

Hair and makeup by the Bella Capelli Salon in Napa, 707-226-2061.

Brittany wore a beautiful necklace from Tiffany & Co.

The flowers were done by Friday Flowers.

The bridesmaids wore fabulous print dresses by Kay Unger.

As Brittany walked down the aisle, her a capella group sang "At Last" by Etta James.

Brittany's dress was from Casablanca Bridal and her veil was handmade by Michael's mother. Brittany chose to use peonies because they were the same flower that her grandmother used at her wedding.

After the ceremony, guests helped themselves to a luncheon buffet, catered by the Meadowood Resort.

The cake was by Perfect Endings and had layers of carrot cake and apricot cream cake.

In lieu of dancing, guests were invited to play croquet after lunch. For a picture-perfect game, everyone on the croquet lawn wore whites and khakis.

Congratulations Brittany and Michael, and thank you so much for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us! And a huge thank you to Cooper for sending over these incredible photos!

Board #245: Hot Pink & Gold

I've been wanting to do an inspiration board in these colors for awhile, and the gorgeous photo of the gold shoes and hot pink tulle was just the push I needed to finally put it together. This color combination channels a sort of retro vibe (1950's or 1980's, I can't figure out which), and I love the balance between refined gold and playful hot pink. For this wedding, I imagine champagne and an abundant dessert buffet, piled with Parisian macarons, a traditional croquembouche, and countless other goodies. Maybe a gelato cart for good measure. And, if it's entirely too sweet for your wedding, consider it for a bridal shower instead!

Mood: retro chic, playfully refined
Palette: hot pink, gold

Wishpot Wedding Expert

So I'm not sure how I've completely failed to mention this until now, but I am one of Wishpot's Wedding Experts! How fun is that! Basically it means that I get to "window shop" and create a registry recommending some of my absolute favorite/coveted items. If you're not familiar with Wishpot, it is an awesome website that allows you to register for pretty much anything under the sun, all in one place. And this week I'm the featured expert on their blog! You can check out the post here, for some of my favorite registry ideas, or check out my complete Wishpot Registry.

Elizabeth Anne Designs Library

If you're planning a wedding, or just in need of some inspiration, you definitely have to check out the brand new library of wedding vendors over at Elizabeth Anne Designs. There are hundreds of resources, from dress boutiques to stationers to photographers. And of course, while you're there, be sure to browse through the Elizabeth Anne Designs blog - full to the brim with inspiration!

Board #244: Rustic Plum

So after last week's inspiration board and conversation on purple, I thought I'd try again. There was something a little too My Little Pony about the lavender and pale blue for me. But, instead of scrapping the blue, I changed things by going with a richer, more grown-up shade of plum. Also, to keep things from feeling overly girly, I thought I'd try this palette in a refined yet rustic, country setting. What do you think? How do you feel about this color combination versus the one from last week?

Mood: rustic, subdued
Palette: plum, baby blue, dark wood accents

Hello! Lucky

I am so excited to tell you about this fun project I've been working on with the wonderful ladies at Hello! Lucky. Using their gorgeous wedding stationery as a starting point, I've created some inspiration boards that you can see over at Hello! Lucky's website.

Here's a little sneak peak, but if you want to see more, definitely head over there and check them out! (Also, if you want to know about any of the images you see there, just click on it and you'll go straight to the source.)

Board #243: Campout!

We're still in the midst of summer, so I thought a camp-themed wedding board would be fun. Rustic and slightly kitschy, with s'mores, compasses, lanterns and sparklers. I love the getaway canoe, complete with tin cans, and the burlap table runner. But my favorite detail by far, one that would work in any number of outdoor weddings, is the tie tree - a place for guests to hang up their ties and relax!

Mood: rustic, a touch of kitsch
Palette: shades of green and brown

Real Wedding Saturday: Bria & Jonathan

I know I'm a day late with this feature, but once you see it you'll agree: better late than never! Cheri Pearl shot this darling June wedding on Bainbridge Island, off the coast of Seattle. Bria and Jonathan live in Chicago, so their wedding wouldn't have been possible without the help of family and friends.

Bria's sister designed and printed the invitations on her letterpress.

The weather and venue were quintessential of the Northwest - misty rain under the trees.

Bria asked her bridesmaids to choose dresses in complementary shades of green - they each ended up buying a dress from J.Crew!

Bria's sister also made all of the bouquets.

Bria's father and sister painted this heart on the side of the house as a surprise.

Jonathan's parents made the paper daffodils that served as seating cards.

Bria's family meticulously removed the labels from about 40 empty wine bottles; to save money they filled them with high-quality box wine for each table.

Customized temporary tattoos were fun favors for the couple's 90 guests.

Cake by Creative Cake Designs.

Congratulations Bria and Jonathan, and thank you so much for sharing your special wedding with us! And a huge thank you to Cheri Pearl for sharing these gorgeous photos!
