Board #365: Sweet Pink and Green

Pink and green is a classic color combination for a reason - it's undeniably sweet and romantic! For today's inspiration board, I've kept the pink and green very pale, and set them against a backdrop of crisp white. A paisley tie and drinking straws tied in knots add a touch of whimsy, while roses and a porcelain-inspired cake lend classic sophistication.

Mood: sweet and preppy
Palette: bubble gum, mint, crisp white

Real Wedding Saturday: Amy & Tony

When Amy and Tony came to the ladies at Alison Events for help planning their wedding, they wanted something unique with a red and black vintage vibe. Alison and Kelsey immediately thought of the classic San Francisco club, Bimbo's 365. Adi Nevo captured the evening in these fun photos...

The groom wore a pinstripe suit, and along with each of the groomsmen, a fedora hat.

Branch Floral Design took care of all the flowers and decor.

The ceremony took place on the stage in the front of the club.

After the ceremony, a mariachi band serenaded the guests during the cocktail hour and until dinner. Mexican details were incorporated throughout the wedding to honor Tony's Mexican roots.

Each guest found a shot of Cazadores tequila and a bottle of Pacifico beer at their seats. Amy and Tony gave a toast to their guests and linked arms to take the shot of tequila together. Catering was provided by La Cocina, a program that provides affordable commercial kitchen space and technical assistance to low-income entrepreneurs.

After dinner, guests got a swing dance lesson from Hep Jen, and danced the night away to the sounds of the Mood Swing Orchestra provided by Rudolfi Artists.

Congratulations Amy and Tony! And thank you to Kelsey and Alison of Alison Events for sharing these fun details, and of course to Adi Nevo for sharing these wonderful photos.

Board #363: Kitschy Key West

A little spring break for those of us who didn't take one this year, inspired by Anna Melcon Bond's fabulous photo of the Sunken Gardens motel. I'm thinking whitewashed beach cottages, once-bright colors faded by salty air, and bare feet, decorated with a fair amount of beachy Florida kitsch. And if you did go on a spring break this year, or plan to, do share so the rest of us can live vicariously through you.

Mood: lazy, breezy
Palette: white sand, seaglass, seashell

Board #362: Milk & Honey

Happy spring! Cindy's daffodil photo inspired this sweet, simple and light wedding board. Daffodil's seem like the quintessential harbinger of spring, and I wanted to create an inspiration board that conveyed that early spring feeling. Pale yellow, creamy white, and a hint of faded gray. Though I imagined this wedding in a quaint country setting, I think it could work equally well in an urban loft or a favorite restaurant.

Oh! I totally forgot to mention this yesterday. This week I'll be guest blogging over at Nole's pretty blog, Oh So Beautiful Paper, together with lovely Chelsea. Be sure to check it out!

Mood: early spring sweetness
Palette: farmhouse white, sweet honey yellow, gray linen

Real Wedding Saturday: Iris & Travis

Did you all see this save-the-date by Chewing the Cud, and wonder about what awesome wedding it belonged to? Well, I certainly did, so you can imagine how excited I was when the incredibly talented Anna Kuperberg posted photos from Iris and Travis' gorgeous wedding at Beaulieu Garden.

Iris and Travis first met at a bar called Butter, and this simple ingredient served as the inspiration for an elegantly rustic, farmstand chic wedding, starting with these tea towel save-the-dates by Viola from Chewing the Cud.

Iris and Travis chose letterpress invitations from Chewing the Cud's signature collection. Torryne Choate from Birch found a small heart-shaped potato at the farmer's market that made for a perfect embellishment on the red gingham ring pillow.

The bridesmaids wore yellow dresses from BCBG.

Iris not only made jam for all of the guests to take home, she also designed the labels for them.

To achieve that earthy, farmstand chic vibe, Torryne poured mounds of soil directly onto the tables, along with flowers and a variety of root vegetables.

Paula LeDuc Fine Catering did all of the delicious food, including miniature ice cream cones and donut holes after dinner.

Congratulations Iris and Travis, and thank you so much to Anna Kuperberg for sharing these gorgeous photos, and to Viola and Torryne for sharing these fun details. You can see more beautiful photos from the day at Anna's blog.
