Real Wedding Saturday: Britt & Jonathan
I sure do love sweet and simple weddings in beautiful places! New York couple Britt and Jonathan wanted a small, intimate wedding that would feel like a vacation - rather than an obligation - for their guests. When the bride and groom visited The Carneros Inn, they immediately knew that it was the right place: great food, great wine, and a luxuriously low-key atmosphere. The day was produced by Rebecca Johnson of Kristi Amoroso Special Events, and all of the details were captured by photographer Leah McCormick.

Inspired by a Monique Lhuillier design, Britt had a dress custom-made for her by Guillermo Couture.

The couple couldn't have asked for better weather for their wedding - the entire weekend was warm and sunny, with not a cloud in sight!

A family drink that included blueberries was served as a signature cocktail.

Calligraphy and table numbers by Little Miss Press. Flowers by Anne Appleman.

Table numbers were printed on wine bottles in keeping with the wine country feel.

Jars of the bride and groom's favorite retro candies were set out for guests to help themselves. Orange is the signature color of The Carneros Inn, and it was present throughout the wedding, from the groom's tie to the ribbons guests used to tie their candy bags.

Sweetie Pies made two types of cupcakes for dessert: yellow cake with citrus buttercream, and chocolate cake with old-fashioned buttercream. Topped with Carneros orange dots, of course!

Both Britt and Jonathan are huge music fans - Britt works in the music industry - so it was very important that they have great music. The flew in DJ Tendaji Lathan from Los Angeles to keep everyone dancing all night long.

Congratulations Britt and Jonathan! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day with us! And thank you to Leah McCormick for sharing these lovely photos.

Happy Weekend!
This weekend is going to be action packed! I will be checking out some wedding venues (!) and spending some quality time with my girl friends to celebrate one of them getting married this fall. And then as soon as that's over, I get to pack my life into boxes and move to an entirely new state... I'm sure I'll be asking all of you for your tips and recommendations. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite links from around the web this week...

{by A Field Journal}
Another use for security envelopes.
Dreamy engagement shoot.
Twinkle, twinkle little string lights.
I'm in love with this imaginary couple's wedding shoot.
Custom Converse for the bride.
Sometimes eloping sounds like the best option, via {frolic!}.
Never thought I wanted a garter. Until now.
If you're not already dreaming of summer, you will be.
But if you don't want to say goodbye to spring just yet, check out my spring wedding posts over at Ritzy Bee, here, here, here and here.

Board #392: Old-Fashioned Garden
Yes, I know - we've already covered how much I love green and white, and whenever I'm feeling pressed for a color palette, I challenge myself to make a green and white inspiration board that looks new. I'm not sure if this succeeds at that, but I sure do love the various shades here, and the old fashioned garden look. For any of you who are struggling with choosing wedding colors, I suggest that you strongly consider this simple palette. It will work in almost any venue, every season, and it can be made to look however you like, from romantic to traditional to sleek and modern.
Mood: old-fashioned garden romance
Palette: bottle green, olive, chalk

Board #391: Seaglass and Velvet
I love the colors found in this photo of old jewelry boxes - that pale, barely there seaglass blue, and that orange! I would call it rust, but it's far to soft and velvety for that. I think this would make for a beautiful summer palette - it's fresh, yet there's something classically romantic about it. Perhaps for a wedding in the desert, or on the beach.

Board #390: Unofficially Summer
Well friends, I'm finally back! With an interstate move and a trip to check out wedding venues, I'm going to be quite the busy bee over these next couple weeks, so I might be a bit slow to respond to emails, but I will do my best to stay on top of things at Snippet & Ink! I know that for many, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, so I wanted to post an inspiration board that conveyed that sweet and simple summer feel. Baskets of fruit serve as centerpieces, lunch is simple sandwiches and soda, and polka dots add whimsy. Enjoy!
Mood: simple summer whimsy
Palette: sunny yellow, sweet peach, grass green

Sponsored Post: Studio Mathewes Photography
Jocelyn Mathewes of Studio Mathewes Photography says that the best part of her job is that it feels like play - she loves being part of a couple's special day, and getting to help them save the memories from that day. And Jocelyn's love for her work comes through in the lovely images that she captures - see for yourself!

This is just a small sampling of some of my favorite shots, but you can see so many more over at the Studio Mathewes website, and their blog of course. Beautiful photos, Jocelyn!

Happy Weekend!
Well friends, I thought I would have a little more free time (and a little more internet access!) on my trip this weekend, but it looks like I'm going to be a bit of a delinquent blogger until I'm back home in a few days. I hope you'll enjoy these fun links in the meantime, have a wonderful long weekend, and forgive my lack of posting...

How about a road trip in one of these?
If I were to raise chickens...
Beautiful cut-paper invites.
Send someone a party in their mailbox!
So many things I love about this photo shoot.
I kind of wish I could sew and make my honey a love letter like this.
Sometimes eloping sounds just right.
DIY Louboutins?
A delightfully retro beach engagement shoot.
Happy weekend lovelies! I'll be back soon!

Board #389: Down in Mississippi
I'm headed down to New Orleans for the day, and then driving over to Mississippi for the weekend for my sweet friend's wedding! After having lived in Mississippi for two years, it holds a special place in my heart, and I thought a rustic board with a cotton bole motif would be fun. Dinner would be barbecue of course and there would have to be a really great blues band for dancing.

Comment Moderation
Hi friends! So some jerk is spamming me with tons of bogus comments, and since I can't figure out on Blogger how to block a specific person (if anyone knows, I'd love some input), I've temporarily limited comments. I apologize, and hope to change things back to normal tomorrow! In the meantime, if you're just dying to say something, shoot me an email.
Update! I'm going to try opening comments up again, so lets keep our fingers crossed for no more spam!

Board #388: Garden and Beach
Who says a beach wedding has to include sand dollars and seashells? Instead, incorporate elements like flowers, twine, and wicker furniture, and enjoy the romance of both the garden and the beach. I chose to use a palette of mostly sand and shades of plum, and I think the result is unexpected and lovely (if I do say so myself!).

Board #387: Jadeite and Lawn
The beautiful weather we've been having has me itching for a picnic. As much as I love a casual picnic, I think a more dressed up version is also appropriate for a wedding. In today's inspiration board, I drew inspiration from this Kate Spade ad, using jadeite and lawn greens to create a fresh springtime palette.

Real Wedding Saturday: Gena & Russell
Today's beautiful wedding looks like something straight out of a classic novel. Gena and Russell wanted a small, intimate wedding with just close friends and family. 80 guests attended the May wedding at Gena's parents home in Laurel Hollow, New York. Meredith Davenport for Christian Oth Studio took the beautiful photos...

Gena believes that wearing red wards off bad luck, so she and Russell tied red threads on each other's wrists to wear during the ceremony.

Flowers were done by Scarsella's.

Gena wore a white cotton dress by Ivan Grundahl, a top by Comme des Garcon, and shoes by Jimmy Choo.

Russell wore a Prada suit.

Gena and Russell surprised everyone by walking back down the aisle together to the song Walk It Out!

A local bakery, Messina Market, made the cake. Since food was an important element to the couple, they asked Karen Lee, a caterer and friend of Gena's mother, to cater.

Congratulations Gena and Russell, and happy anniversary! Wishing you all the best in your life together! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely wedding with us. And thank you to Meredith Davenport for Christian Oth Studio for sharing these gorgeous photos!
