Happy Weekend!

Just a quick heads up that tomorrow we're doing a server switch, and any emails that are sent while that's happening probably won't get to me. But Sunday I should be all set to get emails again. Other than that, my weekend will include breakfast with Leila, catching up with my favorite blogs, meeting with our stationer to talk about invites (!), and enjoying some outdoor time with my honey. I think one of my favorite things about the summer is that there's no need to make big plans - a simple, relaxing weekend is just fine.

Happy Weekend!

Well dearies, what do you have planned for the weekend? My honey and I are taking a little road trip down the coast to Santa Barbara for my cousin's wedding this weekend, and then further on to San Diego for a few days where we'll hang out with my sister and her boys, and where I get to stop by Jonathan Canlas' Film is Not Dead workshop. I can't wait!

Happy Weekend!

This week has been delicious. Picked up tons of gorgeous fruits and vegetables at the farmers market, and ate the most magical Belgian waffle of my life. Got creative with ways to cook the monstrous zucchini from our neighbor's garden (creamy zucchini and corn soup? yes!). My honey and I shared tasty pizza (with summer squash and pancetta) from Flour + Water, and tried honey lavender vanilla ice cream at Scoop. And I joined a gym.

Happy Weekend!

What a week! Being back in my hometown means I don't have to hop on a plane to see friends and family, and it also means I get to meet up with some awesome folks that until now I've only ever known through the interwebs. This week I had dinner with Meg (twice!), hung out at Jordan's craft night, and got snacks with Caroline and Daniel from Tinywater. And I've got lots more dates planned in the coming weeks (like a donut date with Anne).

Happy Weekend!

I blinked and now it's July - how did that happen!? I have a little counter on my Google homepage that tells me how many days until our wedding (yes, yes, I'm a big nerd), and I just can't believe how quickly the time is flying by. Our 4th of July plans are as yet unformed, but I think they should involve patriotic desserts and sparklers. What about you? If you haven't already left for the holiday, then here are some links to take you into the weekend.

Happy Weekend!

This week involved a lot of catching up on emails and blogging, but I think I'm starting to make a dent. My goal is to set a good schedule for myself, so that I have some time to enjoy the summer, because (and I think anyone who's self-employed will agree) it's just so easy to never stop working! So, I'm trying to be a better time manager, to make time for things like the farmers market and art exhibits and trips up or down the coast.

The other thing I want to make time for, and that I'm just so excited about, is starting to plan our wedding ceremony. As much as I'm having fun thinking about all the little design details, choosing readings and music for our ceremony and talking with our officiant about what we want for our wedding really reminds me of why we're planning this event in the first place (and it makes me feel not so bummed out about the fact that getting married in December means no garden roses). I'll probably talk more about all of this more down the road, but for now we're really just getting started. How are you going about planning your wedding ceremony? Any great readings or resources that I just have to know about?

Well lovelies, have a wonderful weekend. I hope you get a chance to enjoy some sunshine!

PS - I just remembered something! Tomorrow is our would-be wedding date, if we hadn't decided to put things on hold. We were planning on getting married at my family's summer home in Montana, where it's supposed to storm. Funny how things work out... I think my honey and I will go out for dinner here in San Fran, instead.

We made it!

After loading a moving truck in the Austin heat and humidity (if my honey is reading this: you're my hero), and then a three-day drive, we arrived at our new home! Well, our new temporary home - we're house sitting while my mom is away for the summer, which means we have some time to find our own place (and which also means we'll be moving all this stuff again, just not as far). Our kitty is exploring everything, and has discovered how fun it is to slide across hardwood floors. I'm working on some great posts for you, but until I can get those finished and posted, here are some awesome links to check out...

Happy Weekend!

This is a little like what our apartment looks like right now, except that it's not this well styled, and it's mostly piles of stuff rather than piles of books. (Although thinking about it, books are one of the heaviest things ever, and not particularly fun to move.) This time next week, we'll be leaving Austin, headed for San Francisco - I can't wait to be back there! I'm going to do my best with regular posting, and I have some really fun posts to share, but I also have a feeling things might be a little crazy over the next two weeks, so I hope you'll bear with me. And for now, enjoy these fun links from around the interwebs...

Last weekend my honey and I went to see Exit Through the Gift Shop, and we both loved it - it's all about street art, and if you can find it at a local theater, it's definitely worth checking out. This weekend we get to start the always fun task of packing up our apartment to get ready for our big move. Even though we've only been living in Austin for a year, I'm really going to miss it - I wish I could bring our movie theater and my favorite tacos with me. And sno-cones...

Happy Weekend!

I don't know where this week has gone, but it sure flew by. I spent most of the week getting wedding things done - rehearsal dinner venue, save the dates, hair and makeup trial, and I finally bought a dress! Something about buying the dress makes it all feel even more real than setting a date and booking a venue (is that weird? anyone else feel like that?). This weekend I'm hoping to catch up on blogging, so I'll have some fun posts for you next week. And for now, some of my favorite links from this week...

Happy weekend to all of you, and Happy Birthday to my little sister! She is my best friend in the world, and I wish we were closer together and could see each other more often. One last thing before I head out for the weekend. Unfortunately, because of some exceptionally rude comments recently, I've decided to disallow anonymous comments for right now. Everyone is certainly entitled to having their own opinions, but I'm afraid there's no room on Snippet & Ink for comments that are hurtful or otherwise rude to people who have kindly shared their weddings with us, and allowing anonymous comments seems to inspire more bad manners than when folks are required to sign their names. Thankfully, it's a small minority, and in case I don't say it enough, thanks so much to all of you who are always so thoughtful. Have a happy happy weekend, lovelies!

Happy Weekend!

I've been thinking about Monday's post, which I think conveyed my feeling about the parts of wedding planning that are crazymaking and emotionally exhausting. But honestly, a lot of it has been wonderful and even fun. So in addition to some fun weekend links, I thought I'd share some of the things that are helping me to stay sane and/or smiling, in no particular order:

- Ignoring anyone who tells me being a bride is all about the little details.
- Making decisions for ourselves and our families and not for some perceived audience.
- Jim and Pam's wedding (this clip is missing the part where Jim cuts his tie, but I love that).
- Miss Manners' Guide to a Surprisingly Dignified Wedding.
- Letting our wedding venue and season be a style guide.
- A Practical Wedding.
- Remembering what weddings are not.
