How about a swanky black-tie soiree to take us into the weekend? A palette of aubergine and pomegranate red, accented with platinum details, works well for both a fall and a winter event. I imagine plenty of glowing candles lining the aisle at the ceremony and the tables at the reception. A signature cocktail would surely include champagne...

Board #308: Tiffany Blue and Tangerine

Beau-Coup invited me to take part in their inspiration challenge - create a wedding look based around one of their (many) favors. I chose the mini teapot as my inspiration for this sweetly sophisticate orange and blue tea party. Though it could easily work as a bridal shower, I do love the idea of an intimate tea party wedding reception. Centerpieces and bouquets that incorporate both flowers and citrus fruits (all of the flowers here were done by Ariella Chezar), charming blue and cream details, and of course a darling little teapot for a favor.

Oh So RB Guest Post

Real Wedding: Georgia & Nate

Thank you all for your patience as I took my sweet time with this post! I think you'll see, though, that it was well worth the wait. The venue is beautiful, the flowers are stunning, as are all of the thoughtful details, and of course Jose Villa captured it all perfectly.


The ceremony took place at Georgia's parents' home in Montecito, California.




The couple lived in Barcelona for most of their engagement, and Georgia became friends with Cortana, a boutique dressmaker there (93/310-3112). She custom-made the beautiful dress. Georgia also wore darling flats by Miu Miu.




All of the gorgeous flowers were done by the talented Camille Panzarello from Modern Day Design.


Nate wore a suit by Paul Smith, and custom shoes by Andre #1.










Nate's brother-in-law made the wrought iron arch for the ceremony, and worked the date of the wedding into the top of the arch. The ceremony was officiated by Saral Burdette.


Another friend of the bride, Heidi Merrick, made the bridesmaid dresses in shades of blue.






Georgia and Nate made watermelon cucumber juice for guests to enjoy after the ceremony.




Georgia had wonderful things to say about Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings, her day-of coordinator - someone you'd definitely want around on your big day!


The reception took place just down the road from the house, at the Valley Club of Montecito.






The vanilla buttercream cake by Siblings Bakery was filled with fresh strawberries and decorated with figs and edible flowers.

I fell in love with the cottage featured on Decorology the other day, and those images inspired this wedding board. I had a French country look in mind, with aged pastels in both warm and cool shades, with just a touch of gray - I know how much you all love gray!

To my sweet readers...

I was so (pleasantly) surprised by all of your wonderful comments on my earlier post. Just to be clear, at no point have I considered ending Snippet & Ink, although after re-reading my post, I understand why you might have thought that - I'm actually totally mortified that my post made it sound that way, when what I really have been thinking is about how to make Snippet & Ink work for me in a way where I won't burn out, and in a way that continues to be inspiring for you.

No matter what I meant, and how you read it, I LOVED hearing from all of you. It means so much to me, and you are all the reason that I keep blogging. Please don't feel pressured to leave comments, but know that they are always welcome and add some sparkle to my day. I will be sure to take into account your thoughts and input as I move forward with Snippet & Ink.

Real Wedding: Christina & Patty

Christina sent me the sweetest note about her backyard August wedding (August 30 - Christina and Patty's three-year anniversary), full of eco-friendly ideas, do-it-yourself details, and a collaborative effort on the part of friends and family that is absolutely enviable. Christina calls her ten friends who really helped her and Patty to pull their at-home wedding together the Bridal Brigade - who doesn't want a Bridal Brigade!




In an effort to be as eco-friendly as possible, Christina and Patty incorporated many vintage details, from Christina's dress to their rings to linens and the reception. After trying on nearly 25 vintage wedding dresses from The Butler's Cottage (650-341-6979) at the Vintage Fashion Expo, Christina chose an ecru lace and tulle number from the late 1920's/early 1930's. She also found her headpiece - made of vintage millinery flowers - at the Vintage Fashion Expo, from Zazu & Violet's Hats.






Christina's bouquet was done by a member of the Bridal Brigade. The Bridal Brigade also helped with planning, scouring thrift shops and eBay for vintage linens, and making the cupcake tiers.






Little puppy friends were present at the ceremony.

To encourage guests to keep the same drinking glass all evening - thereby reducing water-usage with fewer glasses to wash - glasses were personalized with nametags from One Man's Trash and ribbons from Blue Bird Lane. In keeping with Italian wedding tradition, five Jordan almonds, signifying health, wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity, were wrapped with vintage lace and ribbon and placed in each glass for guests to take home.


Christina and Patty cut costs by hosting their 85 guests in their own backyard. The upscale Italian picnic menu even included figs from their own tree!


Centerpieces of live moss were both eco- and budget-friendly, and guests were invited to take them home. Christina and Patty planted what was left in their garden. Vintage linens from thrift stores and eBay covered the tables.


Patty was the drummer for the band Hole, so the couple has many musician friends who shared their talents at the reception. One friend even sang opera for Christina's very traditional, Italian father!


Cupcakes, made by two members of the Bridal Brigade, were vegan chocolate rose for Christina (she's allergic to eggs and dairy), and non-vegan chocolate cherry and chocolate with pecan icing.
